Customer Stories: Diane Schroeder
Meet Diane Schroeder and BrainWerks Neurofeedback & Counseling Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan!
Diane Schroeder, LPC, is the owner and clinical director of BrainWerks Neurofeedback & Counseling Center. Since opening her practice, she has built a team of licensed clinicians and added multiple neurofeedback systems to meet the growing demand for care. Neurofeedback has been part of her work from day one, and she credits it as the number one reason for her practice’s success.
Diane began her solo practice in 2016, right after completing her graduate program. After training with EEG Info, she opened her practice and quickly found herself with a growing client base and a constant waiting list. By January 2024, she expanded by purchasing her second Cygnet system from BEE Medic and hiring additional clinicians. Within a year, demand had grown so rapidly that she outgrew her original space. Today, Diane and her team run three neurofeedback systems all day, every day (with plans of adding a fourth system soon), and she is exploring the possibility of opening a second office across town in the next year.
Integrating neurofeedback has been transformative not just for her practice but for her clients. Diane shared that her overall success rate is above 95%, with the majority of her clients reporting improvement in symptoms. “Everyone sleeps better, even if they’re not coming in to improve their sleep,” she says. “Clients often come in for one specific concern, but then they start to notice they’re calmer, happier, not as reactive, less triggered, and not overthinking as much as they used to; in general, clients start feeling safer in their bodies and begin enjoying life more.”
BrainWerks has even gathered its own data to track results. “We conducted an in-house review (research study) of 16 of our client cases all seeking neurofeedback for help with anxiety/stress and the goal of reducing anxiety/stress. With all 16 of these cases, clients reported at least 35% measurable reduction on the Burns Assessment Scale in anxiety/stress-related symptoms, which is correlated to clients who were ranging from extreme/severe at the beginning of neurofeedback to moderate/mild after 20 sessions.”
Neurofeedback has impacted Diane personally, too. She began performing better in grad school, remembering more, feeling calmer, and showing up better in her life. Her family even started noticing the difference neurofeedback made in her responses and demeanor. "Neurofeedback changed my life personally, which is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about making it more widely available. I want more clinicians to know how to do this so more people can have access to it.”
Diane is quick to credit the support she receives from BEE Medic for enabling her to keep scaling her practice. “The team at BEE Medic has been absolutely superior to any other vendors I use in my practice! Everyone is excellent, friendly, and response time is immediate (or within minutes). Anytime over the past 10 years when I’ve had problems with my tech (which is rare, but it happens), Zeke and the entire BEE Medic team are on it right away! Without good tech support, clinically, you are in trouble. The level of support and excellence from each department is one of the reasons why I keep expanding with BEE Medic.”
Her team’s preferred program for training sessions also reflects a commitment to client experience. “Advanced Browser is our number one choice for feedback option, followed by Arcade. Clients love being able to stream videos and play online games while training — it keeps them engaged and makes the process enjoyable.”
Looking to the future, Diane sees a bright path ahead for neurofeedback. “Neurofeedback is growing 300–500% in the next 5 years in the United States. My practice is built almost entirely on client referrals, and most of my new inquiries now specifically ask for neurofeedback. If you are a clinician, adding neurofeedback will separate you from the rest of the pack. It is a very enjoyable, rewarding way to work. Your clients get better, and you love coming into work every day.”
Diane and her growing team continue to bring the hope of a happier, calmer, more productive way of being - with measurable results - for her clients across the greater Grand Rapids, Michigan area.
At BrainWerks, we work with driven, ambitious individuals to decrease stress, increase performance, and feel more fulfilled in every facet of their lives.
