General

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive therapeutic approach that involves measuring brainwave activity for real-time feedback to the patient. Neurofeedback is indicated for self-regulation of brain function and endogenous symptom management.

During a neurofeedback session, three to five electrodes are placed on the scalp to record the electrical activity of the brain. The information collected is then processed and displayed on a screen in the form of visual and auditory feedback. Parameters of the EEG signal, such as certain frequency ranges of brain activity, are selected to control the feedback. For example, an animation moves faster, the image becomes clearer or a melody becomes audible depending on the brain activity.

Although each case is different, patients will require anywhere from 10 to 40 sessions to achieve the best lasting results. Neurofeedback is a treatment that requires complex clinical decision-making and strong clinical skills to be effective, therefore it is imperative that neurofeedback is only done by mental health professionals. It also requires a comprehensive training curriculum and evaluation process to ensure mental health professionals are prepared to provide neurofeedback services.

• Non-invasive, painless, and does not involve the use of medication, making it a safe alternative to traditional treatments

• Highly individualized, treatment is tailored to the specific needs of each person

• Uses normative, standardized, and quantifiable measurements which allows treatments to be more precise than other therapies

• Helps treat the cause of a problem instead of treating symptoms, which has been shown to produce long-lasting effects

We sell medical devices & software to licensed professionals. A person is considered licensed if they have a mental or physical health license given by a governing board. Assistant licenses (supervised licensure) fulfills this requirement, if we have the supervisor's name and license number

We highly recommend licensed providers take a neurofeedback course before implementing it into their practice.

Courses: General (Europe Only)

If you want to book a course, please go to the BEE Medic website. There you can add the course to your shopping cart and register during the ordering process. If you are already a customer, you can log in to the web store as usual using your customer login. After receiving your order, our course team will contact you individually, clarify any open questions, check your contact details and determine with you what equipment you need for the course. If the booking does not work or difficulties arise, please contact customer service. We will be happy to assist you.

Yes, the online courses contain the same learning content with the same emphasis as the face-to-face courses. You will also receive the same comprehensive course materials and scripts and receive detailed theoretical and practical training.

The same quality and safety standards apply to all our courses with practical training, regardless of whether they are face-to-face, online or hybrid courses. Neurofeedback is a safe treatment method that usually has no side effects. As with all interventions, undesirable effects can occur in rare cases. These effects that occur during the session, such as slight nausea or dizziness, can usually be remedied immediately by correcting the training frequency.

In addition, our company is committed to the responsible use of neurofeedback and we set ourselves standards that go beyond what is customary in the industry. For us, this means that we do not admit anyone without a medical or therapeutic background to our courses. In addition, if you are pregnant or have suffered from severe epilepsy or psychosis in the past, for example, you can take part in the course, but you cannot take part in the self-awareness session.

Please contact us if you have any questions about this or if you are unsure due to previous illnesses. We will clarify in advance with the lecturers whether and in what form it is possible for you to take part in the internship. Please note our general terms and conditions at this point. Unfortunately, we cannot grant any discounts if you are unable to "actively" complete the internship part of the course.

At BEE Medic, you will receive a course certificate by e-mail once you have completed a course and successfully passed the final examination (only for the Neurofeedback basic course). Please keep the certificate so that you can submit it on request. Among other things, the certificate shows the number of teaching units (TU), whereby one TU represents one training point.

Important: If you register for a course with us and would like to receive continuing education points as an occupational therapist, please let us know your date of birth immediately after registering. This information is necessary in order to receive continuing education points for this professional group.

Legal notice

It is the responsibility of each organizer of training and continuing education courses to assess compliance with the above criteria of the GKV-Spitzenverband. BEE Medic has evaluated its course offerings to the best of its knowledge, but this only means that we consider the training to be recognized to the extent indicated. Therefore, any guarantee by the organizer is excluded. Further information can be found on the website of the GKV-Spitzenverband.

Information for other professional groups

As far as we know, the obligation to undergo further training applies to all practising medical practitioners, including physiotherapists and speech therapists, for example. If you belong to another professional group, please contact your professional association yourself. BEE Medic also applies for further training points for psychotherapists, psychologists and doctors for selected courses at the respective psychotherapeutic chambers in Germany. If you are interested, please ask before registering whether we can apply for continuing education points for the respective course.

To our knowledge, BEE Medic courses are recognized by the EMR and ASCA as proof of continuing education hours. The recognition criteria may change without our knowledge as the organizer. Please always check with the respective quality label for therapists if you wish to submit continuing education hours for a course you have attended.

Courses: Online (Europe Only)

Of course, you can also participate in the online conference with an Apple laptop or PC. However, please inform us in advance if you would also like to use a MAC for the neurofeedback workstation. The Cygnet® Neurofeedback software is designed for Windows. Small adjustments are necessary to ensure that it runs smoothly on Apple computers. Our technical support will assist you with this.

Here, too, it is similar to face-to-face events. During the small group work and discussions, you will have a joint exchange of ideas, which will be moderated by the lecturers. You will not be able to spend the breaks with the other participants, but you will always have the opportunity for a moderated exchange of experiences.

Of course, it is also possible to ask questions during an online course. The same rules apply as for normal courses. The lecturer usually clarifies at the beginning of a lecture or learning content whether questions should be bundled together and dealt with at the end of the chapter or whether intermediate questions are ok. The second one is usually the case, as participants often have similar questions and the online lectures become more exciting and dynamic for everyone. The only important thing is to make sure that you switch the microphone on when you want to ask a question and switch it off again when you are not speaking. But here too, we will provide you with instructions and briefing. There is also a chat function and all participants have access to the chat. You can clarify with the lecturers at the start of the course whether and for which topics you would like to use this chat function.

Yes, we would like to encourage you to always leave your camera switched on during the course. It makes it easier for you and the lecturers to work together and the course becomes much more personal, as you can of course also perceive moods better through the camera, e.g. whether the participants are still concentrated. Of course, you can switch off the camera from time to time during the theory part, for example if you want to walk up and down or get a coffee. However, it is important that you send a short message to the team of lecturers, e.g. a quick message via chat in the video conference, that you will be absent for a short time. For the practical training, however, it is essential that you have the camera activated at all times.
And one more note: Attendance is compulsory throughout our courses - whether face-to-face, online or hybrid format.

If problems occur during the course or practical training, you can reach our support team at any time during the course via our support hotline. You will be given this number when you register for the course or at the start of the course.

A headset is certainly an advantage if you are participating alone. The main advantage of a headset is that background noise is better filtered out so that you are better understood when you speak and the other participants can hear you better.

If you are taking part in the online basic course, it is of course often a good idea for the two of you to share a screen where you can follow the theoretical part. You do not need the headset for this. It is only important that you deactivate your microphone when you are not speaking to the group or the lecturer.

A webcam is essential so that the lecturer can see and instruct you, especially during the practical part. Most laptops nowadays have integrated cameras and they are perfectly adequate. However, please check your camera settings when you register and make sure that it is working and activated.

Yes, please contact our support team by e-mail. A video/audio check usually only takes a few minutes. However, it is advantageous to make an appointment so that you don't have to wait too long on the phone until a member of our team is free.

In the week before the start of an online course, our support team will be ready to respond to your inquiries and take the time to help you with any questions you may have. The technical check can either be brief or take up to an hour. A member of staff will help you set up your laptop correctly for participation in the course, test the dial-up with you and show you how to switch basic functions such as the camera or microphone on and off. The neurofeedback workstation will also be set up with you. You will see that the video conference in particular is very convenient and easy to use. And the neurofeedback setting can also be set up quickly, as you will receive everything configured by us.

Make sure you take advantage of this opportunity. Therefore, please always make an appointment with our support team in good time, preferably directly after receiving your (loaned) equipment, so that we can really take enough time. Technical checks immediately before the start of the course are no longer possible.

Where you take part in an online course from is up to you. For the basic courses with a neurofeedback practical course, you need a "therapy place" to take part (you can hire the necessary equipment from us). A room in the practice is usually ideal, as you can set up the neurofeedback setting here and immediately experience how neurofeedback feels in practice. In most cases, there is also sufficient space and a certain infrastructure available in the practice, which is necessary for the course.

For some indication-specific courses or the Alpha Theta and Synchrony Training course, you will need a therapy slot for practical exercises. You will always find a note on the website if neurofeedback equipment is required for participation in the course.

However, participation from home is also possible, as the NeuroAmp® is a very compact device. Please note, however, that you will also need a stable internet connection at home, a laptop to participate in the online conference and an additional laptop or PC and a separate monitor for the practical course. You can find out more about this under "What technical requirements are needed to take part in an online course?"

We will be happy to advise you on what equipment you need for the course - whether from the practice or from home - and will provide you with this on loan, against a deposit, if required. In any case, we recommend that you choose a room where you can work undisturbed and with concentration.

Ideally, only two people should complete the practical training in the online course. On the one hand, this is to ensure that you receive intensive and good support from the lecturers during the internship. Secondly, each participant should be able to gain the same experience during the internship. With three participants, this naturally takes longer.

If you would like to take part in the course as a group of three and are simply missing a fourth specialist to form two teams, please contact us. We will then check individually whether we can ensure that a group of three can be supervised by our lecturers. Please note, however, that discount campaigns can generally only be applied to two people.

If you do not have the opportunity to complete the course with a colleague or a person from another clinic and this is an obstacle, please contact us! We will then try to find an individual solution and support you in finding a partner. Of course, this depends on whether other people from your region are also interested in the course.

We currently offer the basic neurofeedback course and other indication-specific courses online. You can always find an up-to-date overview on the BEE Medic website. In addition, we offer free monthly info webinars and expert panels on various topics as webinars. These provide information and are ideal preparation for the courses.

OMC Certification (Europe Only)

In principle, anyone who has the prerequisites for our courses, especially those with a therapeutic or healing background, can also pass the certification. If you would like to work therapeutically with neurofeedback, you will of course need a licence as a doctor or psychologist, a licence as an occupational therapist, alternative practitioner or similar. Please check with your local authorities whether and in which framework you are allowed to use neurofeedback in your practice.

There are no fees for registration for certification. Only when you actually register for the final examination do we charge an examination fee of 249.00 euros. This way you have no risk if you cancel the certification. The courses and supervision required for certification must be booked at the normal conditions. You may also have to take into account the purchase of specialist literature.

No, you can choose from one of the indication-specific courses, i.e. currently on ADHD, autism, peak performance, PTSD or our user workshop.

Yes, for the majority of our courses - at least in Germany - further training points are available through the Chamber of Psychotherapists and for occupational therapists. You are welcome to contact us about this in advance.

Self-awareness is an important part of the training. The more training effects you experience on yourself, the more effectively you can work with your clients. Your own neurofeedback training can take place in peer groups with colleagues or at your practice or home. It is important that these sessions are well documented and that this documentation is presented as part of the certification program.

For self-study, an up-to-date literature list with recommended literature on neuroscience, biofeedback and neurofeedback is provided. The corresponding literature or media will be worked through at home. The given hours are minimum values, we definitely recommend a more extensive occupation with neuroscientific topics.

Yes, all courses and supervision offered on this website can be credited. All courses are subject to our quality assurance and the lecturers approved for supervision have the appropriate qualifications and practical experience. Courses offered by EEG Info USA are also recognized, as are those of our European training partners.

Supervision takes place as group or individual supervision and is usually carried out by telephone or video conference. It is organised, carried out and invoiced by our experienced lecturers. You will have the opportunity to discuss your own cases and receive both clinical and technical support. This means that you will not have to pay for travel and downtime due to long journeys. You can participate comfortably from anywhere, all you need is an Internet connection and a telephone.

According to the plan, the final examination should take place 2 years after registration. The duration depends on individual time resources and can be completed in less time. However, the workload is already demanding and we recommend that you also allow sufficient time for self-awareness, work with the patient and self-study.

Please also note: You enjoy great flexibility and, except for the courses, very little attendance time is required. However, the responsibility for course planning lies with you. It is therefore advisable to plan the training roughly from the beginning.

The final examination consists of a written and a practical part. You can work on the written part at home and then send it in with the rest of your papers and documentation. The practical part takes place at the end of a course. You do not have to travel separately for this.

Please send us an e-mail to certification@beemedic.com . We will contact you immediately and you will receive all further information about the program.

Terms such as "certification", "certified neurofeedback therapist", "neurofeedback trainer", "neurofeedback diploma" or the like all too quickly give the impression that this is an official training or professional title. Such terms are also often misused to sell neurofeedback trainings as particularly serious.

The fact is: In Germany, Switzerland, the USA and all other countries where neurofeedback according to Othmer is taught, there are neither training guidelines nor "officially recognized neurofeedback therapists" or similar.

There are individual associations, groups or companies that have developed training guidelines, publish them or offer certifications - as we do. But: none of these offers enjoys recognition by an official body such as the GBA, health insurance companies, professional associations or regulatory authorities. Neither in German-speaking countries nor internationally. Rather, behind every training or similar course offered, no matter how official or through associations, there is a company and a specific procedure.

This transparency towards you is very important to us and these efforts in the market to systematize neurofeedback training and to ensure quality assurance are also in order. But from our point of view it is only as long as it is not baited with misinformation.

Because terms such as "neurofeedback therapist" are not protected and therefore cannot be assigned officially or with any effect by an institution, association or company. Occupational therapists, for example, can always call themselves that when they work with neurofeedback, because they are therapists with a healing license. Nor does any neurofeedback training programme lead to a licence to practice.

Against this background, we do not award a "neurofeedback title" or similar after our courses or certification - simply because it is misleading.

Our certification aims to ensure that you can work with neurofeedback more safely, better and more clinically and economically successful. No more, but also no less.

By passing the certification you will gain expertise in modern, sustainable neurofeedback, which will benefit you personally as well as your patients. Many of our graduates now work only with neurofeedback. Our plannable program, consisting of attendance in courses, self-study, supervision and proof of case studies, is demanding but flexible and without risk.
