Neurofeedback 101: Hands-On Training for Real-World Practice: November 2026
Course description
Neurofeedback 101 is an immersive three-day, in-person course designed for professionals and individuals who want to build a strong foundation in neurofeedback and learn how to use it with confidence.
Led by experienced neurofeedback clinician and educator Michael Cohen, the course combines clear instruction with practical, hands-on training. Participants will learn how brain activity relates to symptoms such as anxiety, attention difficulties, sleep problems, emotional regulation, and cognitive performance.
The course covers neurofeedback fundamentals, equipment and software setup, electrode placement, brainwave patterns, session monitoring, basic protocol selection, and how to recognize and respond to client reactions. Participants will also gain supervised experience working with neurofeedback equipment and conducting training sessions.
*No previous neurofeedback experience is required. Participants receive course materials and a certificate of completion.
Essential teaching content
Neurofeedback 101 provides a clear, beginner-friendly introduction to neurofeedback with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning and real-world application.
Participants will learn:
What neurofeedback is and how it works
How brainwaves relate to attention, sleep, mood, anxiety, and performance
EEG fundamentals, including alpha, theta, beta, SMR, synchrony, and coherence
How to review brain maps and use qEEG findings in training decisions
Basic and intermediate neurofeedback protocols
How to recognize common symptoms, patterns, and training reactions
Safety considerations, including when to train, modify, pause, or refer
How to evaluate neurofeedback equipment and software
How neurofeedback can be used in clinical and home-training settings
Electrode placement, signal quality, session setup, and supervised practice
After the course you can
Explain how neurofeedback works and how brainwave patterns relate to attention, sleep, anxiety, mood, and performance
Understand basic EEG concepts, brain maps, and common neurofeedback protocols
Place electrodes correctly and prepare a clear, reliable EEG signal
Set up equipment and run basic neurofeedback training sessions
