Profile

Sebern Fisher is an MA-level psychotherapist who initially co-founded the Family Planning Council of Western Massachusetts in the 1970s before serving as the clinical director for a residential treatment program for severely disturbed adolescents from 1980 to 1997. Seeking better outcomes for her clients, she introduced attachment theory and led the first center in the United States to implement Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in a residential setting. In 1996, she was introduced to neurofeedback, which she went on to integrate into psychodynamic psychotherapy within her private practice to treat developmental trauma. She authored the book Neurofeedback in the Treatment of Developmental Trauma: Calming the Fear-driven Brain (2014) and frequently trains and consults internationally on the integration of psychotherapy and neurofeedback. Today, she maintains a private practice in Northampton, Massachusetts, specializing in adults suffering from the effects of childhood neglect and assault, and has received multiple awards for her contributions to the field of neurofeedback.
